Whether you are buying, selling or maintaining your home, Northwoods Home Inspection Group provides professional and quality service from the moment you reach out. As professional inspectors, we will walk through your home with you and teach you as much as you want to learn. Northwoods Home Inspection Group meets or exceeds InterNACHI’s standards of practice and follow their code of ethics and the state of Minnesota’s laws and regulations.
A home inspection is a thorough visual examination of a house or property. The purpose is to discover and assess any problems with the structure itself as well as its systems. This includes looking for signs of water damage, mold growth, structural defects, termite activity, fire hazards, etc.
Once we have completed the inspection, we will provide you with a report detailing any major findings as well as recommended solutions. The report will contain information about any repairs needed, as well as other important details. It will also list items like appliances, plumbing fixtures, heating systems, electrical wiring, roofing materials, insulation, windows, doors, foundation walls, floors, ceilings, decks, garages, sheds, fences, landscaping, etc., to help you understand the overall condition of the home.
How long will my inspection take?
Our typical home inspection takes us between 2 and 3 hours. Depending on other factors such as size of the home this can take longer.
Does my agent and I need to be present during the inspection?
We welcome both of you to join the inspection at anytime. We strongly recommend that at least one of you or both are present during the final walk through to give us the ability to explain our finding to you. This usually takes 30 mins but we are available to you until you are satisfied.
Do you service my area?
We service the Twin Cities to Rochester from New Prague to Red Wing and everything in between for no additional charge. For areas outside of our service area there will be additional milage fees.
What does my inspection include?
We will inspect your home inside and out from top to bottom. We pride ourselves on being very thorough so you are as prepared as much as you can be on what to expect in the future with your home.
How and when do I get my report?
Once you schedule your home inspection you will be sent a link to your client portal. This portal will have a place for payment and to sign your inspection agreement. Once your inspection is completed your report will be accessible in the client portal in most cases the same day but can take up to 24 hours.
What if I have questions after the report has been sent out?
No problem. We take a lot of pride in being there for our clients. You aren’t alone in this. If you have any questions at all don’t hesitate to contact us at anytime. We won’t be satisfied until you are satisfied.
Should I add Radon testing to my inspection?
While that choice is completely up to you we strongly recommend that you do. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer deaths in the United States after cigarette smoke. Radon is an odorless and invisible gas that can get into homes or buildings through small cracks or holes and build up to higher levels. Over time, breathing in high radon levels can cause lung cancer. The first step is to have us test your radon levels.
Should I add Sewer Scoping to my inspection?
Your sewer line is often forgotten about until it’s too late. Don’t wait until then! Sewer line replacement can cost you thousands. Your sewer line could have roots, cracks or other issues that have damaged the line over time. We recommend adding a sewer scope today to help give you some additional peace of mind.
